Are we keeping the 4th Commandment?
Today most people have read or heard of the Ten Commandments which were given unto the children of Yishrael at Mount Sinai during the time of the prophet Moshe, but most have not lined their lives up to them.  Many believe them to be irrelevant today, and firmly believe that the Messiah, whom the Christians call Jesus, came to do away with the law thereby nailing it to the cross.

After examining this common saying amongst Christians 'the law was nailed to the cross' I realized that not only were they saying that the law was dead, but that their Christ  was dead also.
For the New Testament clearly says that the Word is Christ.  And since Christ fulfilled the law and said himself that he did not come to change the law, but to fulfill the law (meaning that which was spoken of him in the books of the Prophets); We can clearly see a huge problem with this thinking.

Now back to the topic of the page the fourth commandment are we keeping it.  As for those who choose to believe that we are no longer subjected to the commandments, you have judged yourselves unworthy.  But for those who do keep a day of rest, you may not be off the hook either.  For if you keep Sunday, Saturday, or Friday as a perpetual day of rest; you are not keeping the fourth commandment.  I state this not to condemn or judge anyone for I have also followed the wrong day for many years believing it to be the true day of rest (the Shabbat).  Until someone pointed out to me that the lunar calendar was the correct way to observe the biblical Shabbat; I would have continued keeping the incorrect day.

You may be asking, what makes me think that I am keeping it now?  Well after looking into the history of our current calendar which is a modification of the Gregorian calendar established by Pope Gregory the 8th and accepted by the Nicean Council in the late 1500's.  Which was a modification of the Julian calendar (established by Julian Caesar) after the spring equinox occured ten days too soon.  I found that not only did the ancient Khemetians (known as Egyptians) keep a Lunar observance to track of the flooding of the Nile.   But most of the ancient world observed a Lunar calendar.

But if you are one who doesn't like history much I will provide  biblical references to a lunar observance which is the Passover itself.  Although the english version of the bible doesn't plainly say to observe the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day after the viewing of the New Moon.  Jews today observe the passover according to the Lunar calendar.

Now there are scriptures which mentions the New Moon directly.   1 Sam.20:5David said to Yonatan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at evening.   This scripture referring to the period in which Saul sought to slay David during a feast at his table.  Here is another reference to new moon observance directly from El Shaddai....Eze.46:1Thus says the YaHaWaH GOD: The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the day of Shabbat it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened. 46:2The prince shall enter by the way of the porch of the gate outside, and shall stand by the post of the gate; and the kohanim shall prepare his burnt offering and his shalom offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.  46:3The people of the land shall worship at the door of that gate before the YaHaWaH on the Shabbatot and on the new moons.

Shaul (Paul) himself addresses his followers concerning this day....Col2:16Let no man therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect (regard for or esteem) to a feast day or a new moon or Shabbat,  2:17which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Messiah's.  Now if the Law was done away with, why would Shaul address the people to continue in observing the new moons.  I have heard people say it is referring to those who were not keeping these observances being persecuted by the Jews.  This is truly unlearned individuals who failed to see one important word used in this verse 'respect'.  This word clearly indicates they showed repect to the feast days, new moons, and shabbats rather than disrepect.

Further evidence of a lunar observance can also be understood in the prophecies concerning the later days in scripture.  Here are some verses I have chosen to show evidence of a lunar observance.

11:2Leave out the court which is outside of the temple, and don't measure it, for it has been given to the nations. They will tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months.

11:3I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."  11:4These are the two olive trees and the two menorot, standing before the YaHaWaH of the earth.

But if you feel that this is not enough let us use the prophecy given unto Her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.  Rev.12:6The woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that there they may nourish her one thousand two hundred sixty days.

I have posted from the Book of Revelation three verses, two of which have a time of 1260 days and one verse which mentions 42 months.  If you do the math you will find that our present calendar has 365.25 days.

365.25 days / 12 =  30.4375 days per month

30.4375 x 42 =1278.375 days which is 18.375 days over the given amount of days stated above.

If you use the lunar calendar which amounts to 30 days per month.

30 days x 12 months =360 days
30 days x 42 months = 1260

But there is a calendar related to the lunar amounting to 364 days.  The four days are added to the year as a thirteenth month
So if we work in the 4 days per year we will see this
42/12 = 3.5
3.5  x 4 = 14 days extra in a three and one half years time span

Although you may not have a clue why I brought this 364 days calculation in to all this, I assure you it is very significant, but you would have to study the book of Jubilees to see it.  Nevertheless, I have presented enough biblical references to help you see why many are not keeping the true shabbat.  Further references to the lunar observance is seen in the Flood accounts and Feast days, even the gospel accounts of the crucifixion of the Messiah!

Is it not written to study and show thyself approved?
